Ashley
Morrison
Ashley Morrison
was born in Salisbury, England, in 1964. His family
moved to Swindon in 1966. At the age of seven he
first went to the County Ground to watch Swindon
Town Football Club, and ever since red and white
has coursed through his veins, and we are not talking
corpuscles!
He went away to school
at the age of seven, at Stowe School it became abundantly
clear that his focus was more on the playing fields
than the classroom. This focus lead to cricket trials
with Hampshire and a place in the Wiltshire team.
He toured Australia in 1983 with a schoolboy team;
little did he know he would end up living there.
His working career
has been rich and varied, with time spent as a teacher,
debt collector, film extra, designing kitchens, and
two weeks with the Department of Health and Social
Security.
Before leaving England
for a life Down Under he worked for Wiltshire Newspapers,
and the media bug bit. In Australia he worked for
Impact Publications in Perth, publishers of Traveltalk
and Aircargo Asia-Pacific magazines. Then followed
yet another career change that has seen him take
up his current position as the Cargo Manager Australia
for South African Airways, based in Perth.
A twist of fate found
him given a job on Radio 6NR, which led to him ending
up as part of the sports commentary team on Radio
6PR. He continues to broadcast the Hyundai A league
games on radio as well as games involving the national
team.
He plans many other
adventures with his wife Quie-Ying by his side. |
