Headingley Remembered by Ashley Morrison

Headingley
A Century Of Ashes Tests

The first test match between Australia and England at Headingley was played in 1899. With Australia not due back in England until the year 2001, the third Test in 1997 completed a century of Test matches at this historic ground. There was also the chance that the 1997 Test would bring the curtain down on Ashes cricket at Headingley.

This book looks back on 100 years of Ashes cricket at headingly, culminating in the pivotal game in the 1997 series. It also records a spectator's view should Headingley be condemned to the history books.

If the Ashes battle has been played out at this famous ground, the memories of past greats Bradman, Rhodes, Ponsford, Leyland, Verity, Hutton, Bowes, Boycott, Trueman, Lindwall and Miller - will remain long after the grandstands and dressing rooms have gone.
